Practice Updates
Emis to Vision Migration - Medical records
All GP Practices in Scotland are, this year, beginning to have their clinical/medical record system (EMIS) changed to a different system (VISION). Bishopton Medical Practice will undergo this migration in February. This means we will have a period of time (afternoon of) Tuesday 17th February-Tuesday 24th February, where we will have ‘read only’ access to medical record systems. As a result of this, we will: • be unable to issue regular medications – if you are due any prescriptions during this period then you MUST order them early, and the cut-off date will be Friday 13th February in order for us to process all of them before EMIS shuts down in the afternoon of Tuesday 17th February • be unable to do non-emergency bloods • not receive any electronic secondary care communication (e.g. hospital/clinic letters) • not receive any results (bloods, scans, swabs, urine) • not be able to provide copies of medical records • not be able to produce private medical reports • not have our self-check in facilities • be unable to book future appointments During the extended time of Wednesday 18th February-Tuesday 3rd March, we will have to operate slightly differently, with on the day appointments only. This means that if you phone for an appointment on any day during this period, you will have to be available that day and take the time you are given. You will have a choice of face to face or telephone consultation with our ANPs and with either a male or female GP. Once the appointments are full on any day then you will be required to call back the next day. This is an enormous undertaking, and we do not take changes to the services we provide lightly. The changes noted above are for a relatively, and necessary, short period of time, and we would therefore ask you to be patient as we navigate, and familiarise ourselves with, this significant change of clinical records system.
Many thanks

Physiotherapy at BMP!
An advanced Practice Physiotherapist has joined our team. If you have a bone, muscle or joint problem they are best to see you, rather than a GP.
How can they help me?

Provide muscle or joint pain advice.
Referral for further investigations
For ongoing treatment, you may be referred to the main physiotherapy service or Orthopaedics at the hospital.

Flu 2025/26
Early onset of Flu
Dear Patients
There continues to be significant pressure across our healthcare system - including significant impact on General Practice - arising from this years early onset of Flu.
If you have moderate Flu symptoms, stay at home and avoid spreading the virus, especially in GP Practices, hospitals and other healthcare settings.
If you need medical advice, visit your local pharmacy or call NHS 24 on 111 for urgent concerns.
To reduce spread:
Wash hands often
Cover coughs/sneezes with a tissue or your elbow
Consider wearing a face mask
Find a self-help guide at self-help guide: Flu like illness/NHS inform
Thank you for your consideration.
